The implementation of the Enhanced HIV-AIDS Control Program started in the year 2003 under the supervision of Directorate General of Health Services, the main programmatic coordination, implementation and monitoring arm of the provincial health department of the Government of Punjab. The main componenet of the Program is to provide comprehensive HIV treatment and care services for adults and pediatric cases including free antiretroviral therapy, management of opportunistic infections, voluntary counseling and testing, management of chronic care of HIV related infections, control of sexually transmitted diseases, prevention of parent to child transmission and blood safety.
