DHQ Teaching Hospital Gujranwala was inaugrated in 1925 by the then British Governor of Punjab, Sir Malcolm Hailey. Intiallly the hospital was built on an area of 500,00 square feet and later another 450,000 square feet were added to it. Today the hospital is a 450 beds health facility catering to over 5 million people every year. The hospital has a fully functional Trauma Centre equipped with latest medical equipment and trained staff providing 24/7 emergency services.
DHQ Teaching Hospital is affliated with Gujranwala Medical College and is recognized for FCPS by The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. The hospital is attached with Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department - Government of Punjab.
Presently the hospital is being managed by Dr. Sohail Anjum Butt who is the Medical Superintendent of the hospital and responsible for its day to day operations. All the departments of the hospital are working under trained and qualified medical professionals, doctors, surgeons and nursing staff. The medical treatment in the hospital is free of charge for the poor and needy people of the division and the surrounding districts.
