In the year 2024, The Government of Pakistan dissolved NTDC into 3 independent bodies namely the National Grid Company of Pakistan, the Independent System Market Operator and the Energy Infrastructure & Development Management Company. The core function of National Grid Company of Pakistan is to act as the Transmission Network Operator responsible for the operations and maintenance of nineteen 500 KV and fifty 220 KV Grid Stations, 9198 km of 500 KV transmission lines and 12131 km of 220 KV transmission lines in Pakistan. NTDC is also responsible for the planning, designing and construction of new transmission systems and the strengthening and upgradation of the existing ones. National Grid Company of Pakistan’s head office is located in Lahore.
