NTDC’s core function is to act as the Transmission Network Operator responsible for the operations and maintenance of fourteen 500 KV and thirty-eight 220 KV Grid Stations, 5110 km of 500 KV transmission lines and 9686 km of 220 KV transmission lines in Pakistan. NTDC is also responsible for the planning, designing and construction of new transmission systems and the strengthening and upgradation of the existing ones. In May-2025, NEPRA transferred the electricity transmission license granted to NTDC in the year 2002 to the newly formed entity, Independent System & Market Operator of Pakistan (Guarantee) Limited, hence ending NTDC’s function as the System Operator of Pakistan. NTDC head office is located in Lahore.
